The Pheasant

My neighbor went pheasant hunting on Saturday morning and did not see a bird the entire time he was out. I sent him this photo of the pheasant in our backyard.

Superior Sailing Ships

South of Bayfield, Wisconsin the sailing boats are loaded on their perches at the end of the season. The darkening skies warn of an early winter.

Devil's Lake Lodge

Our family went to Devil's Lake State Park today for our annual "photos on the wall" photoshoot. Afterwards, I visited the lodge. This image is a composite of 3 RAW photos combined with HDR software. I love the super realistic look and the detail.

These were taken at sunset on Monday, July 27th. There were a number of severe storms in our area but we were just on the edge of the front. Nothing beats mother nature for spectacular color.

On my way to the Art Fair on the Square in Madison, Wisconsin, I took a photo of these mail boxes on an apartment building near the UW Madison campus. I read an article today about the confirmation hearing for Judge Sotomayor starting tomorrow in Washington and I thought I would create this piece in honor of the supreme court justices. This was my first trip to our nation's capitol. The cherry blossoms were in bloom and the museums were spectacular. Four days was not enough time to see everything. Another trip is definitely in the future.

HDR - way cool

I have heard rumblings of HDR (high dynamic range) photography for a couple of months but didn't really look into it until a few weeks ago. WOW. The images I saw got me excited to try this technique on some of the photos I have been taking. Here are a few of my first attempts.
